Product Life Cycle
This information has been designed as a reference guide for all McAfee retail products and the McAfee managed service offerings providing information on current and previous product versions and providing advance notification of End-of-Support or End-of-Life milestones. This document does not cover McAfee enterprise solutions.
General Policies
- When a new version of a product is released, technical support will support the new version and one version back.
- Signature files (DATs & Filters) and Engine upgrades are tested for compatibility with supported products. Older
products, not included in the supported product matrix, are not tested for compatibility with new DATs, Filters, or
Engine upgrades.
- HotFixes (short-term 'fixes' for known product issues) are provided for the current product release only. Once end-of-life for a product or platform is announced, no further HotFixes will be released.
Availability of Technical Support by Product & Version

Discontinued Products

McAfee provides Technical Support for current products and one version prior to the currently supported version. This includes paid support options, as well as free options - email, chat, and web-based help services.
Currently supported products have support on www.mcafeehelp.com; including a complete knowledge base of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), access to product patches, and free chat and email support. Additionally, currently supported products have pay support options. If a major technical issue is identified in a Currently Supported Product, it will be addressed via a product patch or work-around.
Products that are one version back fall into the 'Product Supported until Next Version Release or End of Life (EOL)' category. These products are supported via the web site - www.mcafeehelp.com - including the knowledge base of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), access to product patches, and free chat and email support. Additionally, pay support options are available. If a major technical issue is identified in a product in this category, it may be addressed via a product patch or work-around.
Products that are no longer supported may or may not appear on the www.mcafeehelp.com
web site and will not be supported by live technicians. These products are typically over two to three years old, and,
to help ensure protection against the latest threats, users of these product versions are encouraged to upgrade to a
more current product as soon as possible. Additionally, if a major technical issue is identified in a product in this
category, it most likely will not be addressed by a product patch or work-around; unless already available.
Windows 95 Support
In accordance with Microsoft no longer supporting Windows 95, McAfee no longer supports Windows 95 for all subscription services. If you are a customer still using Windows 95, please call our customer service for options for your operating system.
Windows 95 users will no longer be able to update or upgrade their version of online software.
McAfee recommends that users update their operating system with other supported operating systems such as Windows ME, 2000 Professional, XP Home or XP Professional.
Right of Cancellation
Please note that if you are an individual user and you acquired products and/or services for your personal use (i.e. not for business purposes), you may cancel your purchase from us and obtain a refund provided that you do so within 30 days of the original purchase.
IF YOU CANCEL YOUR PURCHASE YOU MUST EITHER RETURN THE SOFTWARE OR DELETE IF ALREADY INSTALLED.
